An emergency measure has been adopted by federal government to assist individuals affected by the B.C. forest fire. If you have lost your job due to the incident, you must apply for E.I. as soon as possible even without your ROE. Service Canada has created a special reference code to facilitate and accelerate E.I. claims for those affected worker.
When filling your online E.I. application, at the page where it ask for reference number, make sure to insert the code below. This code only applies to E.I. claims related to this incident. If you have already applied without using this reference code, please contact E.I. call centre right away.

***IMPORTANT NOTE***
While complete your E.I. application, you must put your home address as residential address. However, please put a temporary address (e.g. shelter, friends or families’ address, etc) as your mailing address. You may update your mailing address through My Service Canada Account once your claim is established. Since you might not be able to receive your ROE on time, once you have completed your online E.I. application, make sure to also complete the Request for Record of Employment form or call E.I. call centre at 1-800-206-7218, press “0”, to provide your insurance income and hours information.
