Statistics Canada is currently hiring for approximately 32,000 census jobs across Canada to support the 2026 Census. This is a vital national initiative that helps collect essential data to plan programs and services that support employment, education, healthcare, and public transportation.

Available Census Job Positions

Statistics Canada is hiring for various field positions, ranging from supervisory to non-supervisory roles:

  • Enumerators (Non-supervisory): The primary field role, involving door-to-door visits to collect information and follow up with households.
  • Crew Leaders (Supervisory): Responsible for training, leading, and monitoring a team of enumerators.
  • Other Support Roles: Includes crew leader assistants, field operations supervisor assistants, and collection support unit operators.

Compensation and Work Details

Positions are available between March 2026 and July 2026, depending on location.

  • Pay Rates: $25.87/hour for non-supervisory roles; $31.32/hour for supervisory roles (plus authorized expenses).
  • Schedule: Flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Non-supervisory roles are 20–40 hours/week; supervisory roles are approximately 40 hours/week.
  • Training: You will be paid an hourly rate for time spent in mandatory training.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for a 2026 Census position, you must:

  • Have reached the age of majority in your province or territory of residence.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or possess a valid work permit.
  • Reside in Canada and have a Canadian home address.
