If you would like to find out the details of your EI claim file that is not disclosed by the Service Canada agents, you may request your complete EI file by filling an Access to Information and Privacy online request. Such request is useful if you are to file an official complaint or to understand the exact detail on how the decision of your claim was made.

To file your ATIP request, you must first visit Service Canada’s ATIP webpage at: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/welcome.do

Step 1

At the initial page, click “Next” button at the bottom of the page.

Step 2

Check the “I have read, understood and agree with the above Privacy Notice” box

Step 3

Choose “Employment and Social Development Canada” in the choice box.

 

Select the best option that describes your situation.

Step 4

Make sure to select “Privacy Act”. This is a free request of your personal information that Service Canada Employment Insurance branch has under your file.

Fill in the remaining information. Make sure to be as precise as possible in your description. Simply ask for all your file is not a good way to request your personal info. For example, you can write “I want to request my EI sickness claim detail for the year 2020-2021. I want to know the message written by the processing agent”

Once you have finish writing your request, click “Continue”

Step 5

You may upload any attachments to your request. If not, you may continue to next page.

Step 6

Upon finishing your ATIP request, the last page will ask you to review the information you have input. 

If everything is correct, make sure to check the “I certify that the information provided is true and wish to submit this request.” box and click “Continue”

Step 7

Once your ATIP request is submitted. You will see the final confirmation page and receive a confirmation email.
