You must notify EI processing office if you moved
You must update your new home address if you have moved to a new residence. EI processing or Service Canada Integrity office may send you a letter from time to time to confirm your residence. If you moved and did not respond to the letter’s request, your EI benefits will be cut off until you reply.
If your move is within the same city/province of your original EI application, you can simply update your address through:
- Online: My Service Canada Account
- Visit your nearest Service Canada Centre to speak to a local agent
- Call EI call centre at 1-800-206-7218
- By mail (not recommended)
If you are moving out of your province of residence
If you are moving to a different province, for example from BC to Quebec, you must call EI call centre to speak to an agent because they had to transfer your file from western to eastern region EI processing office. This processing might take weeks and you may see your benefit payment paused until transfer is successful.
